We've got good news for fans of cop shows!
ABC has renewed summer drama series Motive for a second season, according to Deadline.
Motive was created by the former show-runner of Dexter. It focuses on Detective Angie Flynn, played by Kristin Lehman, and Detective Oscar Vega as they try to solve murders.
But what sets this show apart from the slew of other procedurals out there is that it tells you learn who the killer and victim are right at the start of the episode. Then, the episode is all about figuring out why the killer committed the crime.
Motive premiered in May 2013 following Dancing with the Stars to a 1.4/4 rating in the 18-49 demo, and it ended its season last month with virtually the same rating, meaning that people liked what they saw in the show.
As it turns out, ABC had a pretty solid summer of scripted series. All three of its summer dramas — including Mistresses, which was renewed last week, and veteran Rookie Blue — will be back for summer 2014.
So are you a fan of this show, and did we just make your day with this announcement? Well, even if you're not a fan, we hope we've now given you a motive to spend a little more time in front of your TV next summer.
