Tulsa Regional Chamber Education & Workforce joins forces with Tulsa's Young Professionals to bring you- Ed Talks: Education Funding & Advocacy featuring:David Blatt, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Policy InstituteRecognized as one of the state’s leading experts on fiscal policy and selected as one of the Tulsa World’s five “Oklahomans to Watch” in 2011, he is a member and regional co-chair of the Scholars Strategy Network. David previously served for seven years as Director of Public Policy for Community Action Project of Tulsa County and for three years as a budget analyst for the State Senate. He has a Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University and a B.A. from the University of Alberta.Brian Hunt, Oklahoma Executive Director- Stand for ChildrenBrian Hunt has 20 years of diverse experience, from School Board leadership and 15 years of commercial real estate sales to 8 years in economic development ranging from workforce development to business recruitment. Brian was elected to the Tulsa Public School Board in 2008 and served through 2012. As President of the Board in 2011 he oversaw “Project Schoolhouse,” a school consolidation & efficiency initiative resulting in savings and closure of 14 school sites. Major highlights included Will Rogers Early College High School, grade reconfigurations, boundary changes and converting 3 under-enrolled High Schools to include grades 7-12. He also embraced the Teacher Leader Effectiveness Initiative to develop a teacher leader value-add evaluation system focused on student growth – which has become the State of Oklahoma’s preferred evaluation model, having been selected by the majority of Oklahoma school districts.
