The Information Technology Disaster Resource Center is hosting a FREE Disaster Preparedness workshop in Tulsa, OK titled “Building Disaster Resilient Communities”. This half-day event will help community leaders, non-profits, and small businesses understand the effects of disaster on communities, and teach best practices to continue operations and help the whole community recover.Whether you are a sole proprietor or community emergency manager, this program will help you identify the critical technology infrastructure in your organization and community, and present options to protect it from disaster.  The material is presented in an easy to understand format, and is suitable for audiences with or without a technology background.Disaster experts will share response and recovery experiences from Hurricanes Sandy & Isaac, as well as recent flooding, wildfires, and tornadoes across the country.  Some of the topics to be presented include: Situational awareness monitoring, disaster notification, elements of a business continuity plan, available data backup methods, cloud hosted applications, alternate connectivity methods, backup power and fuel considerations, temporary operating facilities, and free disaster planning resources.There will be an interactive audience discussion about what to expect following a disaster, and a Q&A session with disaster recovery experts following the presentations.The workshop will take place at Aaronson Auditorium, Central Library, 400 Civic Center, Tulsa, OK on Wednesday, April 17 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public, but seating is limited to registered attendees only.  This is NOT a sales presentation; it is an informative disaster preparedness event presented as a public service of the technology community.The Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) is a 501(c)(3) public charity comprised of Technology Professionals who assist communities with technology continuity and recovery following a disaster.   Reserved Seating 0.00
