For our final concert of the season, Tulsa Camerata showcases the fiery music of Latin composers from Spain and the Americas. Brazil's most famous composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos wrote some seventeen string quartets; his Sixth explores characteristic Brazilian folk rhythms and harmonies. Mexico's Carlos Chvez absorbed the French style while studying in Paris, and produced this unusual Trio for Flute, Viola and Harp as an homage to Debussy and de Falla. Luigi Boccherini may have been an Italian, but he spent most of his career in the service of Spanish nobility; his unique String Quintet was inspired by the sights and sounds of an evening stroll through the streets of eighteenth-century Madrid. For a grand finale, we present two tangos by the popular Argentine composer stor Piazzolla: his ensemble showpiece Concierto para Quinteto and his virtuosic Contrabajissimo, featuring the double bass as soloist. $5-$20 * contact the Presenting Organization listed below for ticketing information
